Weekend of Preparing Bikes

Spent this weekend getting the bikes ready to race compete clean and Service. I think Steve actually got a toothbrush out on his bike ;-) Both of us looking at new bikes shortly, Steve most is most likely to stick with the KTM 530 and me to the 570 Berg. Keeping on top of the fitness by a quick mountain bike ride and a run.

The Met Office issued a "Be aware" severe weather warning

We were at the Beacons 2 Day Rally in  the Crychan forest this weekend. The Met Office issued a "Be aware" severe weather warning for Saturday. There is no better place than the Crychan to be aware of severe weather.

The Day 1 course was clockwise and used many of the tracks that would be familiar to riders of the Snowrun. There were 2 tests. The first dropped from the Firetower via the Timberyard to Bob's Stick. The second was around the Castle & over Trout Hill. Steve Huzzey (31) & Glenn Morgan (32)

Glenn (32) and Steve (31) raced with 180 bikes across 450 kms of Crychan forest over two days with 32 seconds between them.  Steve beat Glenn on both days beating him by 9 seconds on Day 1 and 23 seconds on Day 2 (editor note Steve had a Steering Damper on the KTM Glenn didn't ;-). Glenn waltzed the mighty Husaberg 570 around the forestry with the lightness of a dancing master to take 14th.  Just ahead of Dakar rider Pasty Quick in 15th with Steve making the top 10 and coming 10th overall. Other Dakar riders Tamsin Jones 16th and Andrew Neri in 61st

Jonathan Williams from Llandrindod Wells set the second fastest set of times to win the Sports bike class on a KTM 530. Geordie Brian Eland was 2nd and Gary O'Shaughnessy from Taunton was 3rd.

The wet conditions proved to be too much for many of the riders and a third of the entry retired. On Day 2 the course was a longer resved section and the sun shone.
